—OUR APPROACH

Accept your experiences and take action toward your values.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps you acknowledge your thoughts and feelings with compassion rather than resistance. Through mindfulness and values-based actions, ACT supports growth, resilience, and living with greater intention. At Sao Therapy, our therapists use ACT to help with ADHD and other challenges, offering a supportive space to build skills for a more balanced and meaningful life.

Q & A

Common questions

CBT focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviours. ACT, on the other hand, emphasizes accepting thoughts and feelings while choosing actions that align with your values. Both approaches support growth, but ACT leans into mindfulness and acceptance, while CBT leans into restructuring thought patterns.

ACT can help you manage ADHD by building mindfulness, easing frustration with difficult thoughts, and guiding you toward actions that reflect your values. It creates space for self-acceptance while strengthening focus, flexibility, and confidence in daily life.

Beyond ADHD, ACT can support anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions by helping you accept difficult feelings, stay present, and take steps that align with your values. It encourages resilience, self-compassion, and meaningful change across many areas of life.

Values are the guiding directions for how you want to live, while goals are the concrete steps you take to move in that direction.

You don’t have to wait for difficult thoughts or feelings to disappear before moving toward what matters.

We’d be happy to connect you with a clinician who can help you build a life that feels more aligned with your values.
